What is this course about?

Are you looking to upskill and enhance any current beauty qualifications you have or are you thinking about a new vocation within the Beauty Industry?

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work within the Beauty Therapy Industry. If you have an interest and enthusiasm and want to develop the basic knowledge, skills and competencies to work within a beauty salon at an entry level, this course is right for you.

What will we cover?

Mandatory units: 

  • UV20398 Provide facial skincare
  • UV20418 Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • UV20419 Provide eyelash and brow treatments
  • UV20437 Apply make-up
  • UV20453 Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • UV20470 Provide manicure treatments
  • UV20471 Provide pedicure treatments 
  • UV20483 Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • UV20489 Salon reception duties

Additional Units

  • BT461 Provide eyelash lifting
  • UV20438 Instruction on make-up application
  • UV20499 Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

This course is a Level 2.

You will need to have appropriate levels of English skills in order to produce assignments necessary for this course. 

You must have achieved an English Language Level 2 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificate during the Course Approval Assessment.

A passion for the beauty and or complementary industry and a willingness to learn.

Competent IT skills

Well organised and ability to work to deadlines. This course requires home study and research skills. You must have sufficient time at home that you can set aside to do homework, revision and practice.

You will be expected to work on your classmates to practice and perform your practical treatments. This course is open to males and females.

To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to complete an online course assessment to ensure this course is suitable for you.

Courses at Level 2 or below may be free if you are in work, live in a London Borough and earn under £25,642.50 or are in receipt of a means tested benefit and looking for work.

Additional information

To practice at home you will need to purchase some items recommended by your tutor. Approximate cost £60.00- £70.00

Purchase a suitably recognised student insurance to cover ‘case studies’ of your practical treatments

You will need to purchase suitable black clothing to create a uniform to wear in the salon. Your tutor will recommend where to purchase the items.

You will need to wear black flat closed in shoes in the salon
