What is this course about?

If you are looking for a new vocation within the beauty industry or you already have an entry level or level 1 beauty qualification and want to progress, then this is an ideal course.

You could upskill your manicure qualification to enable you to provide make-up too or go on to work in a beauty salon, the opportunities are out there!

What will we cover?

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to work within the Beauty Industry. It is designed for anyone who has an interest and enthusiasm who wishes to develop the basic knowledge, skills and competencies to work within a beauty salon at an entry level.

• UV20419 Provide eyelash and brow treatments
• UV20437 Apply make-up
• UV20438 Instruction on make-up application
• UV20453 Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
• UV20483 Follow health and safety practice in the salon
• UBT461 Provide eyelash lifting

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

This course is a Level 2. 

You will need to have appropriate levels of English skills in order to produce assignments necessary for this course. 

You must have achieved an English Language Level 2 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificate during the Course Approval Assessment.

A passion for the beauty and/or complementary industry and a willingness to learn.

Competent IT skills

Well organised and ability to work to deadlines. This course requires home study and research skills. You must have sufficient time at home that you can set aside to do homework, revision and practice.

You will be expected to work on your classmates to practice and perform your practical treatments. This course is open to males and females.

How do I enrol?

To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to complete an online Course Approval Assessment to ensure this course is suitable for you.

Courses at Level 2 or below may be free if you are in work, live in a London Borough and earn under £25,642.50 or are in receipt of a means tested benefit and looking for work.

Additional information

To practice at home you will need to purchase some items recommended by your tutor. Approximate cost £60.00- £70.00

Purchase a suitably recognised student insurance to cover ‘case studies’ of your practical treatments

You will need to purchase suitable black clothing to create a uniform to wear in the salon. Your tutor will recommend where to purchase the items.

You will need to wear black flat closed in shoes in the salon
